As the investigation into the tragic shooting of an unarmed Australian woman, Justine Damond, by a Somali immigrant police officer, Mohammed Noor, enters day five, the Minneapolis Police Department (MPD) is now taking corrective action.
We recently reported about the MPD’s astonishing ignorance of Officer Noor’s rap sheet and the fact that his body cam was turned off at the time of the shooting. The sheer lack of accountability and oversight by the MPD in enforcing department policy has now resulted in a change in leadership. From Biz Pac Review:
Minneapolis Police Chief Janee Harteau resigned Friday, just five days after one of the department’s officers shot an unarmed Australian woman who had just dialed 911 to report a possible crime outside her home.Harteau resigned at the request of Minneapolis Democratic-Farmer Labor Party Mayor Betsy Hodges.
Hodges made the following statement:

Let’s hope that Mayor Hodges’ decision gets the investigation going in the right direction to bring some degree of closure to the Damond family through this difficult time.
