Donald Trump has been president for a handful of days, and already much has unfolded. On inauguration day, thousands of protesters rioters took to the streets in an effort to disrupt the event. Of course, these groups didn’t merely protest, they destroyed private property and left a trail of burning debris in their path.
The following day, millions of women across the country staged a march to protest Donald Trump’s presidency. Although their protest was much more peaceful, it’s still not certain what it was actually about.
As sad as some of the carnage was, most people expected the protests. What wasn’t expected was seeing liberals turn their aggression toward a 10-year-old child. Sadly, that’s exactly what took place. As the inauguration festivities unfolded on TV, many bitter liberals started to target Donald Trump’s 10-year-old son, Barron.
Disagreement with a political figure is one thing, but targeting the politician’s young child is a new low.
However, Barron Trump has an unlikely ally in Hillary and Bill Clinton’s daughter Chelsea. From Epoch Times:
Chelsea Clinton, the daughter of former President Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton, defended President Donald Trump’s son, Barron, after people made jokes at his expense on social media. The 36-year-old Clinton, who was 13 when her father assumed office in 1993, wrote on social media that Barron shouldn’t be a target.“Barron Trump deserves the chance every child does-to be a kid. Standing up for every kid also means opposing POTUS policies that hurt kids,” she wrote on social media.
Despite the fact the Chelsea Clinton was involved in a bitter campaign against Trump, as the child of a president herself, she understands that attacking Barron Trump is not acceptable. Of course, she couldn’t help but take a jab at Barron’s father in the process, but give her credit for rising above the fray and condemning those attacking a kid.
It is an unwritten rule that young children of officials and candidates are shielded from media criticism. That was certainly true for Chelsea Clinton — and possibly even more so when President Obama took office with two young girls of his own. We witnessed the backlash when pieces critical of the Obama children were published. It’s interesting to note Sean Spicer — now Press Secretary — jumped to Malia and Sasha’s defense during the debacle.
In contrast, liberals think anything to do with Donald Trump is fair game.
Let’s hope that, for once, a Clinton emerges as the voice of reason in a national debate. Barron Trump deserves to be left alone. Any criticism of Donald Trump’s policies should be directed at the man himself.
