Gov. John Kasich is projected to win his first state in the GOP primary race. CNN and Fox News are projecting Kasich will win his home state of Ohio.
He spoke with CNN and, in addition to expressing appreciation to Ohio voters, said something that is raising eyebrows, to say the least.
Kasich has long been promising that he would win his home state of Ohio — and that it would be a whole new race after that. But most following this race have predicted that Kasich, at best, will survive long enough to be a spoiler and force a brokered convention. So his comment that he may go to the convention with “more delegates than anybody else” seems overly optimistic if not downright delusional.
Of course, anything can happen in this election cycle, but when you look at where Kasich stand today — with fewer delegates than the guy who just dropped out because he didn’t have a path to victory, you have to wonder…Kasich is not expected to win big elsewhere tonight.
