We’re doomed: It’s now possible to choose “X” as your gender on driver’s license

You know you’re an old fuddy-duddy when you look fondly on the days when there were only two genders to worry about: male and female. It made things so much easier.

Yes, we were always aware there were people who were “different,” but they were few and far between.

The thing is, they still are – as only three-tenths of a percent of the U.S. population identifies as transgender – but now in our new-fangled culture, we are compelled to see them as mainstream and just the same as all of us.

Case in point, the District of Columbia (your nation’s capital) is now the first jurisdiction in the United States to allow “X” as a gender option on driver’s licenses and ID cards, recognizing gender-neutral classifications.

According to the Free Beacon, A group of people became the first in America to receive gender-neutral driver’s licenses on Tuesday in the nation’s capital, CNN reports. They prefer “X” as their gender marker instead of male or female because they identify as gender fluid, gender non-conforming, agender, or another category.

Nik Sakurai was the first to receive one of these licenses and made a Facebook event to celebrate. Sakurai identifies as agender and prefers the pronoun “they.”

“I don’t feel that sense of gender as something that is part of my core innate experience,” Sakurai said. “I’m glad to finally have an ID that actually matches who I am.”

Sorry? What’s with the beard then? (Oops, is it insensitive to mention that?)

Oregon will follow suit this weekend, with its own gender-neutral licenses.

D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser announced last week that this change was intended to improve the health and wellbeing of all Washingtonians. She said that the new identification option “aligns District gender identity policies with D.C. values.”

“Washington, D.C. has long been a leader in LGBTQ rights and gender issues, and this change is the most recent example of our city’s commitment to inclusivity,” Bowser said.

It should also be noted that D.C. has the largest percentage of LGBT population in the nation with approximately 10 percent, more than double the national average. Only Hawaii comes close with 5.1 percent.

Monica Palacio, the director of the city’s human rights office said, “This important step taken by the Department of Motor Vehicles not only validates a person’s chosen identity but also creates broader acceptance, reducing potential incidents of discrimination against individuals for being who they are.”

How exactly is that going to happen? Now if you say you’re “X” – doesn’t that put quite literally an X on your back? Perhaps this is naïve, but wasn’t it always the end of goal of transgenders to fully become accepted in their new gender? Seems like it would make more sense to allow transgenders who’ve “fully transitioned” to legally change their classification, rather than come up with a bizarre “fluid” category.

Just you wait…soon there will be problems with “gender privilege” and lectures about what makes you “authentically female.” Will liberal feminists ever speak out about transvestites and their “cultural appropriation” of false eyelashes, make-up and heels?

Does anyone else find this mind-numbingly insane?
