BREAKING: 29 DEAD, 168 wounded in twin bomb attack…

Today we are once again reminded that the biggest issue in our lives isn’t what Donald Trump will be tweeting or what Jill Stein is up to with her ridiculous recount effort.

No, we are reminded there really are no “safe spaces” in the world, and there are those who wish to cause terrible damage and death to their fellow men and women.

Tonight, two blasts rocked Istanbul near a soccer stadium, killing 29 and leaving at least 168 injured.

Fox News reports, Authorities said that a car bomb detonated by remote control was followed 45 seconds later by a suicide bomber.

In photographs on social media, smoke was seen rising from behind the newly built Vodafone Arena Stadium, known as Besiktas Stadium, after the local team and neighborhood.

The blasts struck hours after the end of a match between two of Turkey’s top teams, Reuters reported, quoting Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu.

The first and larger explosion took place about 10:30 p.m. after the home team Besiktas beat visitor Bursaspor 2-1 in the Turkish Super League. Officials gave no immediate details on the nature of the second explosion, which sounded like it came from the same area.

“A terrorist attack has been carried out against our security forces and our citizens. It has been understood that the explosions after the Besiktas-Bursaspor football game aimed to maximise casualties. As a result of these attacks unfortunately we have martyrs and wounded,” Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said in a statement.

Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu was quoted as saying it was a “cruel plot.” Soylu also said he would give a statement about the death toll later.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility. But officials said that at least 10 people have already been detained in connection with the attack. Istanbul has been the site of attacks attributed to ISIS and also to Kurdish militants in the last year.

RT.com reports, No matter which terrorist organization was behind the attacks in Istanbul, be it the PKK, ISIS, or Gulen’s FETO movement, Erdogan promised to eradicate extremists.

Turkish Transport Minister Ahmet Arslan called the explosion outside the stadium a “terrorist” act. He expressed his condolences to the victims’ families on Twitter.

Turkish Prime Minister Yıldırım issued a statement saying that terrorists will not be able to defeat the “integrity of the state “and will not turn Turkey away from the path of democracy. The PM also confirmed that an explosives-laden vehicle targeted Turkish security forces outside the stadium.

Our prayers go out to the families of the dead and wounded. We pray the casualties do not climb.
