It has once again been a bloody weekend in Chicago. Twenty-two people have been shot — including an off-duty Cook County sheriff’s courts deputy — and of those, two were shot fatally.
Regarding the fatalities, CBS Local reports, About 1:40 a.m. Saturday, a man was sitting in a vehicle at a Goose Island neighborhood gas station in the 1200 block of North Halsted when someone shot him in the head. He died at the scene, police said.
The other killing happened about 7:45 p.m. Friday in the West Pullman neighborhood on the Far South Side, where officers responding to a call of shots fired in the 400 block of West 129th Place found a 34-year-old man with gunshot wounds to the head and thigh, police said. He was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he died.
As horrible as this weekend has been (so far), it pales in comparison to the last, during which 53 people were shot in Chicago, six of them fatally. More than 275 people have been shot in the city during the first four weeks of the year.
President Trump made headlines (and caused snowflakes to melt) when he tweeted about Chicago’s terrible murder rate last week.

Chicago rapper “Twista” posted a video commenting on Trump’s plans.
Twista starts out by saying “Some people seem to think all rich white people oppress us…but they don’t Everybody has different views and I think he (Trump) stands for the other view.” He doesn’t necessarily think sending in the National Guard would be a good idea, but he does say “I think it’s a big wake-up call for us to be standing up and doing things for ourselves.”
Funny that it took a “rich white man” president to deliver that. Never happened when we had that cool black dude in the White House.
