More big news from the Trump administration: rumors circulating earlier today about labor secretary nominee, Andrew Puzder, being the latest ouster, have turned out to be true.

Puzder just released a statement withdrawing his nomination for the position, a move that comes hot on the heels of the resignation of national security adviser, Michael Flynn.

Puzder’s rather high-profile divorce, and allegations of abuse from his ex-wife, combined with allegations he hired an illegal immigrant, are a few of the reasons that may have inspired him to take this route.

According to Fox News:

Labor secretary nominee Andrew Puzder has withdrawn from consideration.

He said in a statement Wednesday afternoon:

“After careful consideration and discussions with my family, I am withdrawing my nomination for Secretary of Labor. I am honored to have been considered by President Donald Trump to lead the Department of Labor and put America’s workers and businesses back on a path to sustainable prosperity. I want thank President Trump for his nomination. I also thank my family and my many supporters-employees, businesses, friends and people who have voiced their praise and hopeful optimism for the policies and new thinking I would have brought to America as Secretary of Labor. While I won’t be serving in the administration, I fully support the President and his highly qualified team.”

His ex-wife has retracted her allegations. According to the Fox News piece:

She told Fox News in a statement that her “privacy has been invaded,” as she lashed out at the media and critics of her former husband.

But the issue has hung over his nomination.

Despite the growing public resistance to Puzder, White House officials and top Republican leaders said they supported him and were confident he’d be confirmed.

“I’m a strong supporter of Andy Puzder. I think he’s uniquely qualified for this job,” Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., said Tuesday.

Yikes.

Coming so close to the resignation of Michael Flynn, it definitely doesn’t look good for President Trump and his new administration, and, unfortunately, all of this will give the mainstream media more fodder.

No president is perfect, and none that have been elected have managed to escape having some sort of “controversy” involving the folks they chose to work with in their administration.

However, with President Trump already being considered public enemy number one by the radical leftists in the media, this is certainly going to make his life a bit more difficult, which is the last thing he needs at this point.

If it turns out all of these allegations about Puzder are true, then withdrawing is most certainly the right move.

Let’s hope folks look beyond the hiccups occurring right now and look at the good Trump has already started to accomplish on behalf of our country.
