Over the last few weeks, we’ve watched liberals try and wrap their minds around how they blew the election, making up every excuse under the sun rather than accept the truth that their policies are out of touch with the majority of Americans in this country.
At the same time, we’re watching the Obama administration desperately try to prop up its failed legacy, even as President-elect Trump blows them out of the water even before he sets foot in office.
The news of Trump’s saving more than 1,000 U.S. jobs from moving to Mexico has put the Obama administration on the defensive on multiple fronts. As if it wasn’t awkward enough that footage of Obama mocking Trump’s plan to save those jobs has resurfaced, Josh Earnest’s efforts to defend the president’s own jobs record only made matters worse.
Earnest attempted to brag on Obama by stating he created 805,000 manufacturing jobs as president. As it turns out, that number isn’t even remotely accurate — and only shone a spotlight on just how dismal Obama’s own record on the matter is.

Yeah, this is a pretty big whopper. That number is off by about 303,000.
According to Politifact, After a presidential election decided by Rust Belt voters’ Republican shift, it’s an opportune time to evaluate President Barack Obama’s 2012 re-election promise to “create 1 million new manufacturing jobs by the end of 2016” and to “double American exports over the next five years.”
First, manufacturing jobs.
Bureau of Labor Statistics data shows that between the time Obama made that promise, amid the 2012 campaign, and October 2016, the number of manufacturing jobs rose by 297,000. That’s well below 1 million.
And you can’t get to 1 million even if you use time frames that are generous to Obama.
If you start from the beginning of Obama’s term — which started in a severe economic downturn — the number of manufacturing jobs is actually down by about 303,000.
So how in the world did Obama get 805,000 as his total?
And if you start counting net gains in manufacturing jobs from their lowest point in early 2010, the gains are strongest, but it’s only an increase of 805,000 — still short of 1 million.
So basically, the president and his administration are full of it. Not only that, but they are spreading false information, the very “fake news” they’ve been warning us about — blamed not only for the Democrat’s big losses in November, but Obama’s failure to be as truly “great” as he might have been.
To be sure, it’s hard to top the Obama administration’s fake news to top all fake news, “If you like your health care plan, you can keep your plan.”
Might we suggest the Obama administration zip it for the next 49 or so days? The American people ain’t buying what you’re selling any more.
