This presidential election cycle has been a spectacular fail for celebrities who seriously thought that the American public actually cared what they had to say.
Prior to the election, there were the usual celebrity “get out the vote” campaigns: massive Trojan horses for trying to encourage people to vote Left. A video from September shows actors stressing just how important the November election will be — so important that it’s like “a disease, or ecological crisis, or racist, abusive coward who could permanently damage the fabric of our society.” Wonder who they were talking about?
Well, they lost…then came damage control mode: trying to sway the electoral college by encouraging electors to vote “their conscience.” Where have we heard that one before?
Oops, that didn’t work either. After eight years of complaining that Republicans were obstructing President Barack Obama, what are the celebs complaining about? They fear Congressional Republicans won’t do enough to obstruct Donald Trump. Breitbart reported: “A who’s-who of stars — including actresses Sally Field and Rosie Perez, Westworld star Jeffrey Wright, comedian Keegan-Michael Key, Boardwalk Empire actor Steve Buscemi and other activists — appear in the video released Tuesday, titled “#StandUpForUS.”
“We demand that you block nominees who threaten the rights of women, the LGBT community, people of color, immigrants and the poor,” Key and Field say in the video.
The message is meant to encourage the “dear members of Congress,” the entertainers say, to “vigorously oppose” Trump’s “racist, sexist, anti-immigrant, anti-worker, anti-Muslim, anti-Semitic, anti-environmental policies.”
Don’t you love being lectured by people who pay no price for being dead wrong about nearly every political issue out there? Ironically, it’s smug elitism like this that led to Trump’s victory in the first place.
