Imagine spending four years at journalism school only to wind up working for Buzzfeed at the end of all that hard work.

Rather than doing any actual kind of journalism, you’ll end up writing “hard hitting” pieces like one published by Kate Aurthur titled “Chip And Joanna Gaines’ Church Is Firmly Against Same-Sex Marriage.” The Gaines family have a TV series on HGTV called Fixer Upper, are bestselling authors, and most criminal of all to Aurthur, are Christians.

Here’s the relevant bit of her useless expose:

Now, it really doesn’t matter whether or not you agree with the Gaines’ stance on gay marriage, but are we really at the point where we’re going to start destroying people for committing thought crimes? Notice that Kate only focuses on belief, not actions.

There isn’t a single shred of evidence to lead us to believe that either of these individuals have treated any member of the gay community differently because of their sexuality, so what have they done wrong? If you take a peak at Kate’s twitter, it appears she targeted the Gaines’ because she knew they were Trump supporters, and apparently couldn’t bear to watch a show while being aware its hosts have thoughts different than hers.

In a moment of sanity you’d never expect to see in the Buzzfeed comments section, most questioned what exactly the purpose of such a hit-piece was.

If we’re going to incriminate someone for simply belonging to a church that disapproves of homosexuality, want to know who else belongs to a church or religious group that disapproves of homosexuality? Nancy Pelosi, Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, Keith Ellison, Joe Biden, Claire McCaskill, Time Kaine…. shall I go on?
