Here we go AGAIN.
The story so far — as you know – is the mainstream media and Washington insiders are pulling out all the stops to find something – anything that PROVES Donald Trump, his family or his associates colluded somehow with Russia to swing the election in his favor. The only problem is, to date, there has not been a shred of evidence to support this charge.
But that hasn’t stopped the investigations. Now according to Reuters, investigators are turning their sights on former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort.
If you’ve been following along, you know Manafort was also in the June 2016 meeting that included Donald Trump Jr., Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner and infamous Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya.
Manafort became Trump’s campaign manager in June 2016 but was forced to resign only two months later after his business relationship with the Kremlin-backed former Ukrainian leader, Viktor Yanukovich, came to light. Now investigators – according to “sources” – are trying to pressure Manafort to cooperate with their Russia probe because they might go after him on money laundering charges – for which they have NO EVIDENCE.
Reuters says, Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s team is examining Manafort’s financial and real estate records in New York as well as his involvement in Ukrainian politics, the officials said.
Between 2006 and 2013, Manafort bought three New York properties, including one in Trump Tower in Manhattan. He paid for them in full and later took out mortgages against them. A former senior U.S. law enforcement official said that tactic is often used as a means to hide the origin of funds gained illegally.Okaaaay, but get this: Reuters has no independent evidence that Manafort did this.
Furthermore, The sources also did not say whether Mueller has uncovered any evidence to charge Manafort with money laundering, but they said doing so is seen by investigators as critical in getting his full cooperation in their investigation.
Well, yes, it would seem you could pressure someone if they did do something wrong. But there’s NO EVIDENCE.Not surprisingly, Manafort’s spokesman, Jason Maloni, said, “Paul Manafort is not a cooperating witness. Once again there is no truth to the disinformation put forth by anonymous sources and leakers.”
It boggles the mind to consider how much time is being spent wasted on this investigation to dig up some sort of dirt on Donald Trump in order to justify hounding him out of office.
It’s also reminiscent of that old joke about the person who finds a large pile of horse manure and begins enthusiastically digging, saying “there must be a pony in here somewhere.”
Unfortunately for these investigators and “sources,” so far all their digging has yielded is more horsesh*t.
