Like encouraging all of US to decrease our carbon footprint while THEY themselves travel in private jets, yachts and limos; like telling US we need more gun control while THEY live in mansions protected by armed guards, the “do-as-I-say-not-as-I-do” hypocrisy of today’s Democrat Party extends to many levels of its own party platform.
The most recent one to be exposed - the “pay everyone earning minimum wage $15 an hour” sham.Apparently Democrats want all minimum wage earners to be paid $15 an hour, so long as they aren’t the ones writing the paychecks. Oh it’s ok for YOU, Mr. or Mrs. Business Owner, YOU should pay them that much but us? Eh, not so much.
A report published by the Daily Caller has revealed how during the 2016 election cycle those oh-so-generous with everyone else’s money Democrats, who were running on the $15 minimum wage platform themselves, fell a little short when it came to paying their own staffers. The very people out doing the work not of flipping burgers and frying hash browns but of getting them elected!“The Democratic Party is pushing for a federal $15 minimum wage as part of its recently revealed “Better Deal” economic platform, despite paying its own field organizers significantly less than that during the 2016 election cycle.
The new platform, announced Monday at a press conference in Berryville, Va., aims to ingratiate the Democratic Party with blue collar voters through populist economic messaging focused on prioritizing the interests of workers over those of corporate interests.
However, the same party pushing the dubious $15 minimum wage chose not to implement the policy itself during the 2016 election.A group of roughly 40 field workers filed a class action lawsuit against the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and six state party organizations in May, alleging that they were not fairly compensated for their work during the 2016 campaign. The field organizers claim to have been paid $3,000 per month while consistently working 80 to 90 hours per week.
Justin Swidler, the attorney representing the workers, described their treatment as “obscene.” “These workers were out there in a campaign that was promising $15 an hour minimum wage, and expanding the overtime rights of workers,” Swidler told CBS News.”
Yes, the “party of the poor.” Never mind that more millionaires and billionaires were created under Barack Obama’s presidency than at any other time in history, while at the same time the numbers in poverty and on welfare also broke records; that Bernie purchased his third house last year; that Barack and Michelle are the owners of five; that Bill and Hill and Diane Feinstein and the rest of those old codgers are worth hundreds of millions — they’re looking out for you, poor folk. The Daily Caller piece also dropped this nugget:
“The DNC’s decision to give the executive director a $300,000 bonus after the failed election cycle exacerbated workers’ complaints, as their wages were left well short of $15 per hour.”
So the Democrats decided to give the DNC executive director, already well-compensated a rich person, a three hundred thousand dollar bonus(!!!) even though she lost the election, but left their poor field staff - the ones not sitting in an air-conditioned building in Washington wearing $1600 suits but out walking in heat, cold, wind and rain - holding the bag.And yet these same people still magically believe ‘the Democrat Party is the one looking out for us.’
