Many weren’t surprised that senior White House Correspondent Jim Acosta’s tirade during a White House press conference with senior policy advisor Stephen Miller quickly went viral.
In fact, some of Acosta’s own CNN colleagues believe the fiery attack Acosta unleashed upon Miller was all smoke and mirrors. As reported by the Washington Examiner:
One of Acosta’s colleagues, an on-air conservative political commentator for CNN, said he sees an ulterior motive in Acosta’s actions. He said Acosta’s widely noticed clashes with the White House give the impression that he wants a new role at the network.“He’s angling to host an opinion show,” he said. “These [White House] briefings are his auditions.”
Another CNN employee in Washington, D.C. made it clear that Acosta’s outbursts aren’t as popular behind the scenes as CNN sometimes makes them out to be on the air.
“Ugh, just ugh,” a producer told the Washington Examiner when asked about Acosta.Even the liberal MSNBC show Morning Joe had an issue with Acosta’s behavior, as evident by the show’s host saying Jim Acosta’s words sounded like “something that you would read out of like ‘Mein Kampf.'”
As can be seen in the video below, Acosta clearly went beyond even aggressively questioning the White House’s support of the RAISE Act, which would cut legal immigration and establish a more stringent criteria for green card applicants:
In fact, Acosta went beyond debating the RAISE Act with Miller. Judging by often Acosta attempted to interrupt and speak over Miller, Acosta had little interest in what Miller to say about it.
One wonders what the benefit could be of citing a poem added to the Statue of Liberty nearly 20 years after the statue was erected as if it were a passage from the Constitution other than raising Acosta’s profile among Progressive viewers.
If Acosta’s behavior at White House press conferences was intended to aid his career, it may have been successful.According to Free Beacon, “Senior CNN executives have discussed giving White House correspondent Jim Acosta his own show.”
