Donald Trump campaigned and won on “repeal and replace” Obamacare. Not only did the American people place him into the White House, we also handed control of Congress to Republicans in large part because of that campaign promise. But no sooner had talk of a replacement bill started than liberals everywhere began their own campaign of smoke and mirrors in an effort to save the Affordable Care Act.
From astroturf efforts of posing as Republicans, showing up at Republican town hall meetings and shouting down legislators to their #MakeAmericaSickAgain campaign, liberals are trying desperately to sell the lie that the ACA has been great, it’s working for everyday Americans, people love it and getting rid of it would be nothing short of catastrophe.
They’re clearly banking on the “if you repeat a lie long enough sooner or later it becomes the truth” strategy. But their schemes took a major hit last week and that shell came from none other than the U.S. government itself. The Department of Health and Human Services has released a report titled, “Individual Market Premium Changes: 2013 - 2017” and it is an Obamacare apologist’s worst nightmare.
No longer a politicized arm of the Obama White House charged with making the ACA look as rosy as possible, DHS is now doing what government agencies should do - releasing purely factual information. And the facts are — it’s worse than we thought.
The report is just five pages long and can easily be summed in three pictures a fourth grader could understand. Obamacare has been a disaster.
According to DHS data -not the Cato Institute, not Heritage Foundation, not Rush Limbaugh- the federal government:
All 39 states using Healthcare.gov experienced an increase in individual market premiums from 2013 to 2017.
…Comparing the 2013 average premiums using the MLR data with the 2017 average premiums obtained using CMS MIDAS data shows average premiums were 105 percent higher in 2017 than in 2013 and that the median state premium increase was 108 percent. Moreover, 62 percent of states using Healthcare.gov had 2017 average premiums double in 2013. “
I’d highly advise ALL Americans to click the link to the report and read it. It’s brief and provides an easy-to-follow table depicting the exact increases in healthcare premiums on both a dollar and cost percentage basis for all Healthcare.gov states.
Looking at that table (page 4 of the report) and tossing out the outliers (the state with the lowest percent increase and the state with the highest):
With a 44 percent jump in average health insurance premium costs since 2013, North Dakota has seen the smallest increase in costs. Alaska is the highest at 203 percent. Since 2013, 25 out of 39 states have seen triple-digit percent increases in the costs Americans are now paying for healthcare insurance.
And according the the United States government NO state saw a decrease in insurance premium costs. Not one!
Remember, “My plan will lower healthcare premiums by up to $2500 per family per year?” That was a lie. Plain, simple, cut, flat and dried. Obama is hung by a noose of his own words. Now the same spinsters who helped sell us this big lie are at it again, this time claiming the lie they sold us seven years ago is not a pile of crapola, it is in fact a shiny new Rolls Royce.
They actually think they can rely on the “stupidity of the American people“…again! But this time instead of a weaponized DHS working with them they have actual truth and facts working against them.
Americans, remember the proverb — Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame’s on me.
