New York City mayor Bill de Blasio is among those presiding over a sanctuary city who’s vowed to defy Donald Trump’s immigration policy. He’s hysterically referred to targeting sanctuary cities as “a threat to safety,” and that’s not the craziest thing he’s said in defense of his city’s policies.
In response to those banding together in defiance, the president has threatened the federal funding of Sanctuary Cities. New York City, which houses half a million illegals, has roughly $7 billion in federal funding on the line. The city goes further than most sanctuaries, which generally refuse to report illegal aliens to federal authorities simply on the basis of their immigration status. New York City doesn’t notify the feds about illegals who’ve been arrested and released from custody if their crime is among the city’s “minor” criminal offenses.
Just as de Blasio tries to twist reality by calling illegal immigrants “undocumented,” much of what he considers “minor” crimes are anything but. De Blasio took to CNN to defend his city’s immigration policy… and to stand up for the rights of illegal immigrant drunk drivers.
Grand larceny is also A-OK according to de Blasio.
He may call them “minor crimes” - while sane Americans would refer to them as “a threat to safety.” [Note: This post was authored by Matt Palumbo. Follow him on Twitter @MattPalumbo12]
