Trump’s ready to sign abortion ban — and liberals are sweating

While publicly focusing on tax reform, behind the scenes President Donald Trump is preparing to deliver a major victory to the socially conservative wing of his base.

On Tuesday, House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy held a press conference with pro-life leaders and announced a forthcoming vote on October 3rd. The vote would be on the “Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act,” which would, in effect, impose a ban on abortions after 20-weeks. The law would penalize abortion providers — but not the women seeking abortions.

Trump told pro-life leader Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the pro-life Susan B. Anthony List, that it’s a “high priority” for him.

According to the Daily Wire,

The Act will be voted on in the House on October 3, and is expected to pass. If the act can muster 60 votes in the Senate, where Republicans have a majority (52 seats), the important pro-life legislation will be codified by the president.

The bill was blocked by Senate Democrats back in 2015.

As noted by The Hill, the legislation is sponsored by Rep. Trent Franks (R-AZ) and would criminalize abortionists performing the procedure post 20 weeks. The women seeking the abortion will not be punished. “We want to be there for the woman, and we know we need a law to protect the children,” said Dannenfelser.

The pro-life leader is not only optimistic that the bill will make it through the Senate and be signed by the POTUS, Dannenfelser believes the media will cover it.

“I have really found that over the last several years of dealing … with this 20-week bill, that the media in general are listening,” she said, optimistically. “I mean, there are obviously exceptions.”

Admittedly, I think Dannenfelser is a bit optimistic in assuming the media will cover the Act positively, but that should be irrelevant in regards to how the Republicans in the House and Senate vote on it. One thing that’s for sure: Liberals are running scared.

Only roughly 1.3 percent of abortions occur after 20 weeks, but progressive demands concerning abortion “rights” have become so radical over the years that this new bill represents a serious blow.

How much do you want to bet we’ll see countless talking heads conjure up the old rhetoric about Republicans wanting to “control women’s bodies” despite that?
