The last time we reported on former undercover CIA agent Valerie Plame Wilson, it was to cover her GoFundMe campaign which had the ambitious goal of raising $1 billion so she could “buy Twitter” in order to ban President Donald Trump from using the platform. Anyone doing a few minutes of research would quickly discover that $1 billion is nowhere near enough money to actually purchase Twitter, which is valued at roughly $13 billion as of this writing.
She’s back in the spotlight again, this time after posting a link to a piece accusing American Jews of being the main force behind the country’s wars.America’s Jews Are Driving America’s Wars https://t.co/oUH7b0QPMt
— Valerie Plame Wilson (@ValeriePlame) September 21, 2017
The article claims that “for those American Jews who lack and shred of integrity, the media should be required to label them at the bottom of the television screen whenever they pop up, e.g. Bill Kristol is ‘Jewish and an outspoken supporter of the state of Israel.’ That would be kind-of-like a warning label on a bottle of rat poison.”
Well, that’s one message to spread on Rosh Hashanah! As you’d expect, she quickly received backlash for the post (including some from her own fan base), and in response claimed that “re-tweets don’t imply endorsements,” but that people should at least read the article. It’s a bit worrisome that the woman who wants to buy Twitter isn’t aware that her post wasn’t a re-tweet.
1) First of all, calm down. Re-tweets don't imply endorsement. Yes, very provocative, but thoughtful. Many neocon hawks ARE Jewish. https://t.co/m5oGgKPo2a

2) Just FYI, I am of Jewish decent. I am not in favor of war with Iran, or getting out of the Iran nuclear treaty. There are simply https://t.co/AR3Jsl1yml

3) too many who are so ready to go to war. Haven't we had enough for awhile?
4) Read the entire article and try, just for a moment, to https://t.co/wyd3uJ06nt— Valerie Plame Wilson (@ValeriePlame) September 21, 2017
put aside your biases and think clearly. https://t.co/dHsVF8ZCH6

After encouraging others to read the article (and receiving more criticism as a result, given the contents), she then tried to pretend that it was actually her who didn’t bother to read the article.
OK folks, look, I messed up. I skimmed this piece, zeroed in on the neocon criticism, and shared it without seeing and considering the rest.

Apologies all. There is so much there that’s problematic AF and I should have recognized it sooner. Thank you for pushing me to look again.

Her excuses are a bit less convincing when you go through her Twitter timeline however:

She concluded her apology by saying she made a mistake. Comedian David Angelo had the perfect response to that:
I guess we're all just happy you aren't working at the CIA anymore.

And, thank God she’s not in charge of Twitter either.
