Counselor to the President Kellyanne Conway has dropped her Secret Service protection.

Officials have stated that the threat level against Conway has undergone a change since she was first approved for protection. There is no law or statute that says she is to have Secret Service guard. It was President Trump who approved the protection after several threats were made.

According to The Hill:

The Times also reported that President Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr., has given up his protection from the agency due to privacy concerns.

In an August interview earlier this month with USA Today, the Secret Service Director Randolph Alles said his agency was nearing its spending limit for protecting President Trump and his family. Alles said 1,000 agents had already reached their federal salary caps and overtime payments for the year.

USA Today reported that the Secret Service was protecting 42 members of the Trump administration last month, including 18 members of the president’s family. Thirty-one people were protected during the Obama administration, by comparison.

However, the Secret Service limit is not only due to the president’s large family. As we reported to you earlier this year, the cash-strapped Agency has experienced several such issues due to statutory limits on pay.

According to the Daily Wire:

Secret Service Director Randolph Alles, in clarification to USA Today’s breathless report, later said funding for roughly 1,100 agents working overtime in 2017 is not an issue “that can be attributed to the current Administration’s protection requirements alone, but rather has been an ongoing issue for nearly a decade due to an overall increase in operational tempo.”

“The Secret Service has the funding it needs to meet all current mission requirements for the remainder of the fiscal year and compensate employees for overtime within statutory pay caps,” he said in the statement. “The Secret Service estimates that roughly 1,100 employees will work overtime hours in excess of statutory pay caps during calendar year 2017. Our agency experienced a similar situation in calendar year 2016 that resulted in legislation that allowed Secret Service employees to exceed statutory caps on pay.”

The statement continued: “To remedy this ongoing and serious problem, the agency has worked closely with the Department of Homeland Security, the administration, and the Congress over the past several months to find a legislative solution.”

It’s always good news to hear that the threat level against someone working to help restore this country to greatness has dropped. You’d think such a goal would be something that would unite Americans of all walks of life, but the left has done a stellar job of keeping us at each other’s throats.

Let’s hope Conway and Trump, Jr. continue to take necessary precautions to ensure their safety at all times.
