The Democratic Party of the last decade was hardly a sane party, but their position on immigration was more-or-less mainstream.
When it came time to vote on the 2006 Border Fence Act, 26 Senate Democrats voted in favor of the Act, while 19 voted against. Among those voting in favor were Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Diane Feinstein, and Chuck Schumer. In effect, they voted for a 700 mile border fence to be constructed — not very far off from the 1,000 mile long “big beautiful wall” that President Donald Trump wants. Then Sen. Obama said of the Act, at the time, that it’ll aid in building “better fences and better security along our borders” and would also “help stem some of the tide of illegal immigration in this country.” Hillary, meanwhile, acknowledged her 2006 vote as recent as November of 2015 when she said “Well, look. I voted numerous times when I was a senator to spend money to build a barrier to try to prevent illegal immigrants from coming in. And, I do think you have to control your borders.”
It’s incredible how their tunes have changed since then.
Now, even daring to suggest that we have a right to protect our borders is somehow a form of “racism” — as if it’s not something every nation does. And it’s hardly just adults that Hillary was tough on illegal immigration with. While Trump is portrayed as a monster for going after “children” in his repeal of DACA, Hillary’s public comments on the matter from 2014 suggest she would’ve done the same.
According to Dennis Michael Lynch:Last week, Hillary joined the liberal ranks in defense of DACA as the White House announced it would be terminating the program, marking the polar opposite of her stance on the issue from 2014.
“We’ve got to fight with everything we’ve got to #DefendDACA,” Clinton tweeted when news broke that President Trump might end Obama’s executive order.
However, in 2014, a mere two years after the program’s creation, Hillary was completely against it, stating what is now a firmly conservative opinion in a CNN interview with Christiane Amanpour:“It may be safer but that’s not the answer,” she said about DACA, “We need to do more to provide border security…they should be sent back as soon as it can be determined where the adults in their families [are].”
“I think all of them who can be reunited with their families should be…but we’ve got to send a clear message that just because your child gets across the border that doesn’t mean your child gets to stay,” she continued.Watch below:
Is there an issue she hasn’t flip-flopped on?
