The rise of left-wing bias on college campuses has been well documented. Instead of being places where students can approach topics with an open mind, America’s colleges have become more like liberal indoctrination centers. As a result, conservative views have almost become forbidden by default.

For the most part, college administrators have been content to let their faculty spew their propaganda with near impunity. However, one professor in Florida finally took things a bit too far. As most of the country was watching in horror at the events unfolding in Houston, sociology professor Kenneth Storey was busy tweeting. To him, Harvey was “karma,” since Texas had the audacity to vote for Donald Trump.

A college professor said over the weekend that the devastation wreaked upon Texas by Hurricane Harvey “feels kinda like” instant karma for the state because it traditionally votes Republican.

The professor’s stunning statement came as millions were displaced by the Category 4 storm, which CNN meteorologist Tom Sater described as a “1 in 1,000 year event,” according to Axios.

“I don’t believe in instant Karma but this kinda feels like it for Texas,” Ken Storey, visiting assistant professor of sociology at the University of Tampa in Florida, tweeted Sunday, according to Campus Reform.

“Hopefully this will help them realize the GOP doesn’t care about them,” Storey reportedly added.

Predictably, the tweet didn’t receive a very positive reaction, prompting Storey to issue an apology:

However, it didn’t take long for Storey to be dealt some karma of his own:

The University of Tampa said in a statement Tuesday that Kenneth Storey, visiting assistant professor of sociology, was “relieved of his duties at UT.” The statement quoted an email sent out to students and faculty Tuesday morning, which pointed out that the comments were made on Storey’s private Twitter account and that they “do not reflect UT’s community views or values.”

“We condemn the comments and the sentiment behind them, and understand the pain this irresponsible act has caused,” the statement read.

The message went on to say that “Storey has been relieved of his duties at UT, and his classes will be covered by other sociology faculty.”

“As Floridians, we are well aware of the destruction and suffering associated with tropical weather. Our thoughts and prayers are with all impacted by Hurricane Harvey,” the university’s email said.

Sadly, the attitude Storey displayed in his tweet has become all too commonplace in today’s political climate. Instead of rationally debating the other side, people like Storey find comfort in the obvious suffering of political opponents. For that, the former professor suffered the appropriate punishment.

Additionally, the user account is no longer on Twitter, whether by his own removal or taken down by the service.
