Trump’s popularity UP after Charlottesville; liberals STUNNED at reason why

In the wake of the Chalottesville protests, the liberal media launched an all-out assault on President Trump. To start, many pundits pinned the blame for the violence on Trump. They also demanded he make an immediate statement condemning white supremacist groups alone — even before all the facts were in.

Since then, the media has attacked just about everything he has aid on the topic. Clearly, nothing Trump says will actually calm the liberal firestorm.

Of course, the media never stops to consider whether this is the right issue to hammer Trump. Despite a nearly constant barrage of attacks, polling shows that much of the American public actually agrees with the president.

From the Daily Wire:

A PBS/NPR/Marist poll conducted after the Charlottesville protests found a whopping 62 percent of registered voters preferring to maintain Confederate memorials as a “historical symbol” over removing them “because they’re offensive to some people.” The issue united Republicans (86 percent approved maintaining them and only 6 percent disapproved), while dividing Democrats (47 percent approved removing them and 44 percent disapproved). Even a 44 percent plurality of African-Americans didn’t want to tear them down.

Moreover, Trump helped solidify his base by pointing out the violence on “both sides”:

by correctly blaming “both sides” for the violence, Trump has improved his standing with his base. A full 87% of Republicans agreed with him on this issue, an improvement of the 80% of Republicans who generally approve of the way he is doing his job

Even better, Trump’s job approval ratings went up across the board:

On the overall job approval front, post Charlottesville, Trump has improved +4 points in Gallup, jumped +6 points with Quinnipiac (compared to the previous month), and held steady overall. Over at Real Clear Politics, Trump’s average approve/disapprove improved from 37.4%/ 57.4% (-20) to 39%/55% -16) — hardly spectacular, but more proof that, at best, the media frenzy has had absolutely no effect whatsoever on public opinion. At worst (in the eyes of the media), the public has inched closer to Trump post-Charlottesville.

As usual, the reality on the ground shows how out of touch the media establishment is with mainstream America. While fuming for over a week about Trump’s response to the tragedy, the media has failed to sway public opinion on the president in any meaningful way. In fact, their coverage might have had the opposite effect.

On the campaign, Trump won over voters by shunning political correctness in favor of blunt honesty. While his statements about Charlottesville weren’t politically correct, many voters realize he had a point.

When Trump tells it like it is, voters respond with approval — though that stuns the media every single time.
