House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi has been having a rough go of it lately. Not only did her party get clobbered in November, but factions from within that same party tried to oust her from her leadership position soon after. Many feel she is no longer capable of being the visible leader of the party, resulting in calls for her to step down.

Of course, an uprising from her own party isn’t the only sign it might be time for Pelosi to retire. Pelosi’s struggles have been well documented, causing some to wonder if she is actually starting to lose her mind. In two separate appearances, Pelosi was caught on camera giving bizarre speeches, often slurring her words and making confusing statements. Call it stress, but clearly the longtime lawmaker has seen better days.

Despite this, Pelosi continues her attempt to lead the Democratic resistance to President Trump. However, if her most recent speech is any indication, she’s still having trouble keeping simple facts straight.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) keeps confusing Donald Trump with George W. Bush.

During a press briefing on Friday morning, she again referred to “President Bush” when she was discussing Trump. Pelosi may have had Bush on the brain because she said earlier on “Morning Joe” that she wished the 43rd president was in the White House now.

“First, he tries to charm you,” Pelosi said of Trump. “President Bush tries to charm you. If that doesn’t work, he tries to bully you. If that doesn’t work, he walks away.”

One reporter interrupted to say “Trump” to correct her, but Pelosi ignored him.

A few minutes later, someone walked to the podium and handed her a note, apparently letting her know of the mistake.

“I said President Bush? I’m sorry, I meant to say—it’s hard for me to say it,” Pelosi said, evidently suggesting she did not want to say “President Trump.” “Poor President Bush. I apologize.”

With politicians being in the spotlight so often, the occasional gaffe or slip up is to be expected. However, Pelosi has made a habit of it in recent months, some cases so bad that many are questioning her health.

Perhaps Democrats were on to something when they tried to oust her late last year. After all, Pelosi’s leadership hasn’t resulted in any progress for the party. Instead of offering a coherent message that could appeal to voters, the party has been obsessed with proving conspiracy theories about President Trump’s ties to Russia.

Clearly, the Democratic Party is in need of a change in direction. Many of their traditional voters abandoned the party in favor of Donald Trump, ultimately resulting in his stunning victories in states like Michigan and Wisconsin. With the recent evidence piling up, it doesn’t appear Nancy Pelosi is the right person to lead that change.
