President Obama continues to demand the U.S. ramp up immigration from Muslim countries, despite ISIS’ declaration that it is indeed using the refugee crisis to infiltrate; despite the FBI’s own admission that it CAN’T properly vet; and despite tragic proof to illustrate that last point. (As you no doubt have heard by now, San Bernardino terrorist Tashfeen Malik, wife of fellow terrorist Syed Farook, was a Pakistani native who cleared the vetting process while giving the Dept. of Homeland Security a fake address.)
Now, leading GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump has come out in nearly direct opposition to President Obama on this, calling for a ‘compete and total shutdown’ on Muslims entering the U.S. Trump says this ban would apply to “everybody,” including Muslims seeking immigration visas as well as tourists seeking to enter the country.
Wow.
Via the Associated Press:
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump says he is calling for a “complete and total shutdown” on Muslims entering the United States.
Trump says in a statement released by his campaign Monday that his proposal comes in response to the level of hatred among “large segments of the Muslim population” toward Americans.
Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski says Trump’s proposed ban would apply to “everybody,” including Muslims seeking immigration visas as well as tourists seeking to enter the country.
Here’s the full press release from Trump’s campaign:
Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on. According to Pew Research, among others, there is great hatred towards Americans by large segments of the Muslim population. Most recently, a poll from the Center for Security Policy released data showing “25% of those polled agreed that violence against Americans here in the United States is justified as a part of the global jihad” and 51% of those polled, “agreed that Muslims in America should have the choice of being governed according to Shariah.” Shariah authorizes such atrocities as murder against non-believers who won’t convert, beheadings and more unthinkable acts that pose great harm to Americans, especially women.
Mr. Trump stated, “Without looking at the various polling data, it is obvious to anybody the hatred is beyond comprehension. Where this hatred comes from and why we will have to determine. Until we are able to determine and understand this problem and the dangerous threat it poses, our country cannot be the victims of horrendous attacks by people that believe only in Jihad, and have no sense of reason or respect for human life. If I win the election for President, we are going to Make America Great Again.” – Donald J. Trump
Though Trump’s statement sounds quite dramatic — and no doubt will be overplayed as such — is putting a halt on things just “until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on” actually kinda reasonable when you think about it?
Regardless, prepare for the onslaught of liberal outrage and calls for Trump to end his campaign. On the other hand, the utter frustration the American people feel over the policies of our current president is one big reason Trump continues to dominate in the polls.
Does this latest statement from Trump go too far? Or is he simply boldly voicing what needs to be said (and done)?
We’ll be watching the polls to see how this plays out. Personally, I have a feeling this may only continue to fuel Trump’s rise — if for no other reason than this nation is so totally starved for bold leadership.
