DOJ finally charges knockout game suspect – who is white

According to the Washington Times, the Obama administration filed a federal hate-crimes charge Thursday against a white man accused of using the knockout game to target a black man, videotaping his assault, and then bragging about it to strangers.

The charge marks the first time the administration has taken action on a “knockout” case after the game became an Internet and media phenomenon. It chose a case in which the person accused is white, even though most other cases reported in the news have involved black assailants.

In this instance, 27-year-old Conrad Alvin Barrett is charged with assaulting a 79-year-old black man in Fulshear, Texas. The victim lost three teeth, suffered a broken jaw and had two metal plates inserted into his mouth.

“Suspected crimes of this nature will simply not be tolerated,” U.S. Attorney Kenneth Magidson said in a statement Thursday. “Evidence of hate crimes will be vigorously investigated and prosecuted with the assistance of all our partners to the fullest extent of the law.”

I am glad the US Department of Justice has finally stepped forward but it begs the question, what took so long? Mr. Barrett is a disgusting individual but then so are all the others who were participating in this heinous crime.

New York has prosecuted one person under state hate crime laws, but it seems this is the first instance of the federal government taking action.

So does Eric Holder’s inaction regarding previous crimes involving blacks attacking whites actually reflect his own hate crime? I look at the vigilance by which Attorney General Holder went after the Civil Rights voting statute decision of the Supreme Court and State voter ID laws — yet he said nothing about the clear instance of voter fraud perpetrated in 2012 by Ohio poll worker Melowese Richardson — who voted several times for herself and relatives and was unapologetic in doing so.

The real question behind the decision to prosecute Mr. Barrett is not his actions, but rather the perception of an even more heinous double standard emanating from the Obama administration’s Department of Justice under Eric Holder – sure seems like it’s being used as a platform for the progressive socialist version of social justice.

The suspect in question stated his intent to attack someone based on their race, he then attacked someone based on their race, he recorded the attack and showed it to others along with statements that it was based on race.
If you would check the records of the F.B.I. you would find that Blacks are charged with hate crimes at a higher rate than whites.

  What you are missing is the “pick and choose” nature of how this administration does business. It’s not just this. The great point was the federal voter fraud that happened in my home town of Cincinnati, Ohio. This dealt with a federal election and the DOJ should have been involved, but they weren’t. Many of us are actually shocked they didn’t try to impede the investigation (maybe they did and we just don’t know it). You have to enforce 100% of the law 100% of the time. It was garbage like this that went on before Obama got elected that got Obama elected, and here we still have it. Obama=politics as usual.

I have the same problem with “hate crime” as I do with using race terms depicting crimes against another race. A crime is a crime and should be dealt with accordingly. It is making me totally suspicious and unsupportive of government when they start choosing which crimes to prosecute based on the spin it allows them to use or to shield them from criticism from groups they are pandering to. This also happened when voters were intimidated by black panthers at poling places. If that really happened (very little coverage by biased media either way to dispute or report) and was unchallenged we have to make changes not just in the white house but the congress and state houses and their legislative bodies. Look, Mr. Obama is President not King. Time for some folks to remember their oathes. Of course that kind of thing has to mean something to them in the 1st place. Uninformed and ignorant voters allow this behavior to continue so let’s place some blame there too.

  I feel this Administration with the help of Harry Reid, don’t care about Equal Justice or allowing the Private Sector grow because they want Americans to suffer. This is ridicules. I am not defending Conrad Barrett in any way. What he did to that poor man he should be charged with a crime BUT so should all the others that have committed the same crime. Al Sharpton spoke out at the beginning of December and said they were targeting mainly the Jewish people and he called it racists. Wouldn’t that also be a hate crime? So now a white guy does it to a black man and it is now called a hate crime. I don’t care what color the person is committing the crime,,,,they should all be charged with the same charges. How many of those that were arrested for this crime are facing 10 years in prison for committing a crime that is considered a “Federal” hate crime? This administration has demonstrated time and again that they do not care about public issues unless pandering to the media to forward certain agenda’s or to smoke screen real issues.

What about our freedoms that are systematically being whittled away? What about our quality of life that isn’t any better than it was 5 years ago? What about world perception?

Finally, what about our veteran and active service members being treated like 2nd class citizens while those in Washington live an imperial lifestyle?

Again another issue I was waiting to hear about. Read about this yesterday and was appalled that the DOJ only seems to recognize that only one person is capable of racial hate crimes and not the others. There is a huge double standard in this country and if something doesn’t fit the “bill” racially, then they turn a blind eye to it. There have been many many cases of black on white crimes that have the same earmark as white on black cases but because someone somewhere made the suggestion that only whites can be racist and thus be the only ones to commit hate crimes these other cases just get the “regular” punishment.

At what point are we as a country going to stop this divide? If we really want racism to stop then we have to treat each crime of the same nature the same and not “white” wash to only further a certain agenda. This is keeping racism alive and the divide continues. The hate crimes bill is just another way to keep racism alive. It needs to either be eradicated or needs to apply to ALL persons who commit a crime that is led by racism and bigotry in all its ugly forms, not just if you are white, heterosexual or Christian.

If everybody is outraged about this then write the Justice Department. Ask them why now they are paying attention to this crime. Ask them why when Al Sharpton spoke out calling it racist when the blacks were targeting the Jewish people and those that were arrested were not charged with a hate crime.. I personally am not for hate crime laws. I believe a crime against a person should be prosecuted on it’s own merit and adding another law doesn’t make sense. Any victim of a crime didn’t suffer more or less because the suspect was of a different race. That being said, you do have to prove a hate crime. The fact that the victim and the suspect are different races in itself does not prove a hate crime. I am not familiar with this case but it says the suspect video taped and bragged about what he had done. This may be evidence of a hate crime if he targeted a black man or said things to show it was done because the victim was black. The knock out game doesn’t appear to be specific to hate crimes. In order to charge or convict a person of a hate crime, there has to be evidence that it indeed was a hate crime. He may be the only one charged with a hate crime because the evidence shows that it happened.

I have noticed from Eric Holder that he seems to favor a Conflict Theory type perspective. Which is a socialist theory of criminology, where there is a belief that there is only so much resources, and that groups within a society need to compete for these resources, to include when in power using the law and or creating laws that are directed towards a competing group so as to weaken them and consolidate power for your own group. In eastern Europe communist would get elected, fire all non communist in their office, then hire communist yes men whom often were not qualified for the position they were assigned. After they would get control of the law enforcement, the courts and a few more offices they would simply disband any further elections and take over the whole government. I don’t think Eric Holder is overly familiar with Criminology though since he went to Law School, and most Law School graduates do not have a Criminal Justice back ground or education. They will know the laws, but not the theoretical nature behind the law and its purpose.

The revolution we need cannot be won with guns, fighting or political solutions. I am seeing this a LOT more frequently….black on white crime goes unreported apparently because local newpapers do not want to deal with black activists who try to claim victimhood for the perpetrators. How they get by with this is anybody’s guess. I am concerned that white people will begin using vigilante justice and taking out innocent blacks. After all, we still have the KKK, neo-nazis and skinheads who are more than willing to do this. They will then use the excuse that blacks are getting by with it, so we’re just paying them back. York Daily News, Kenan Adams-Kindard and Demetrius Glenn, both 16, accused
of murdering Delbert Belton in Spokane, WA are now in protective custody
because of a bounty placed on their heads. The hunters have become the hunted.

In case you don’t recall, Mr Belton was the 88-year-old US Army
World War II veteran who survived Okinawa, only to be – allegedly — beaten to
death outside his car in the parking lot of a city ice rink in August.

Of course, there was no march by Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton, no
vocal condemnation by the National Urban League or the NAACP in this case.

Consider the rise of this new game called “knockout” which seems
to be wholeheartedly racially motivated, as we discussed earlier this week, and
you have a recipe for disaster.

We were supposed to be living in a new post-racial era because of
the election of the first African-American president, but tension seems to be
exacerbated.

This is the unfortunate result of the hypocrisy that has occurred
over the past few years in crime cases involving blacks and whites. We cannot
continue to have a double standard where there is outcry in some cases – generally
politically motivated — yet silence in others.

Let’s flip the coin here and suppose Mr. Belton was a black World
War II veteran who was beaten to death by two white teens. Does anyone reading
this commentary not believe the media would be fully engaged in that case?

Anyone not believe there would be incessant marches and the
President and Attorney General Eric Holder would levy their full weight?

I sincerely condemn the actions of the Aryan Brotherhood if indeed
reports are correct, and there has been a bounty placed upon the heads of these
two despicable young boys.

However, none of us can deny there is a seething sentiment in
America that has been fomented because of a biased liberal progressive media
and race-baiting politicians and charlatans.

The media ensured the entire nation was enthralled by the Treyvon
Martin case, yet in 3 short months, an American hero, a treasure, Delbert
Belton has been all but forgotten.

Yes, that angers me, as well as it should all of you, but
vigilante justice is not the answer. Neither is this misguided progressive
socialist version of social justice. I challenge the media: don’t forget
Delbert Belton, keep his memory alive.

I am curious why you think the Federal Government should be involved in a state criminal manner. The first question that should come to mind is that of Federalism. There is no reason for the Feds to be involved. This is a local or state matter. I understand they will claim jurisdiction through our bloated federal criminal laws but you should be questioning that and raising concerns. Second, have you really thought about hate crime laws and what they represent. As reprehensible as this guys motivation for hitting the man is; should the law treat him differently than someone who beats someone up during a robbery or someone who brutally attacks someone on a whim. Are we into being thought police? I was hoping your statement would be more thought out.

What you are not allowed to do is take action on that hatred via assault, etc. The action can be criminal, the reason behind it shouldn’t matter.

More to the point, when are we going to realize that “hate crime” legislation gives “special” status to certain people and is fostered in hate and intolerance itself. Gosnell was ignored for as long as possible because it was a “local crime”, and I had even heard the argument on the knockout assaults that this was a local issue. So, again, why hate crime legislation? To allow feds to jump into local cases and to tilt the scales of justice towards one group over another. I’m okay with these issues being taken into account to determine heinousness of the crime for sentencing (and the decision whether or not to seek death penalty where applicable), but to be used as a tool to swing justice harder one way than the other…….

Obviously what Barrett did was not a love crime. Any one who would do something like that does it out of hatred and the anger that hatred infuses. Just like all the black kids out there trying to knock out white folks, there is no love in that, nothing but hate which if not a motivator is at the very least a factor in EVERY violent crime. But, given that “hate crimes” legislation is a political invention, a kind of “Affirmative Action” program to put more white people in jail for longer terms, maybe even more of them on death row, “hate crime” is generally something only white, or heterosexual people are charged with. Every February we are reminded, by the African American community, that we should judge one another by the content of their character rather than by the color of their skin but it was the African American “Community” that created the racist political tool called “hate crime”.

When an African American, such as Allen West stands up and says “That’s wrong”, what does it get him? Most of us ‘white Americans’ don’t need anybody to tell us that any more than we need anybody to tell us what “hate crimes” legislation is all about. Martin Luther King Jr. made another comment that you NEVER hear quoted in February: “Nothing pains some people more than having to think”.

The bad news is, after having said all that, the sad truth is that there are to many white folks out there whose thinking processes are also about as deep as skin pigmentation. Most of them not as nuts with hatred as Conrad Barrett, but just as guilty of failure to think honestly with a balanced mind.

None of that, on either side is ever going to be fixed as long as we have a whole political party, a presidency, a congress who can make money and gain power off of it. Maybe it would be a good thing if the next time we vote for a president, we vote on the content of his (or her) character rather than the color of his (or her) skin (or gender). That, of course, will require some serious mental effort, to figure out a candidates REAL character as opposed to the wonderful emotions he (or she) inspires.

It is apparent the perception of many Americans is that President Obama is using race as a divider in America, instead of trying to unite the nation. Eric Holder is no more than a pawn of Obama who is using the bully pulpit to separate us as a society. This is why the “hate crime” thing was invented in the first place, as a political tool to justify deliberate discrimination against whites, not because they are white, but because any good socialist or communist knows that to sway an entire nation, you have to create deliberate unrest (racism serves very well) in the populace. “Race” is just a political tool pretty much exclusively owned by the Democrat party at the moment.
